TOYOTA TPAT OVERVIEW

Set yourself apart with advanced manufacturer-specific training when you add Toyota Professional Automotive Technician (TPAT) training to your Automotive Technology or Automotive/Diesel Technology program. Designed and equipped by Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., TPAT is offered at UTI and is designed to put you on a pathway to becoming a Certified Toyota or Lexus service technician.

Take your training to the next level as you train on Toyota and Lexus specific technology. Course highlights include hybrid systems, climate control, engine controls, basic electrical & circuit diagnostics, and both manual and automatic transmission technology.

As a TPAT student, you’ll get the focused skill set you need to generate a new career path as you train with a giant in the automotive industry.

CERTIFICATIONS

Graduates earn credit for 9 instructor-led courses and 20 eLearning courses leading to Certified Technician status. Students will also receive their own Toyota SPIN training ID that tracks their Toyota and Lexus training history within the dealer network. Program graduates will achieve Toyota Certified Technician status upon completion of all on-campus training, achieving 2 ASE Certification and completing post-graduation tenure requirements.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

TOYOTA 1

Toyota culture, traditions and product line. Toyota wiring diagrams and electrical diagnostic tools will be used to perform diagnosis on various electrical circuit problems, such as open and short circuits, circuit resistance and feedback problems.

TOYOTA 3

Perform tire and wheel service, inspect suspension components, diagnose power steering problems, diagnose vehicle handling concerns and perform various alignment methods.

TOYOTA 2

Toyota Hybrid general service procedures, including safety and repair procedures related to air conditioning diagnosis and service procedures; diagnosing engine control systems; recovering diagnostic trouble codes; inspecting fuel system components and diagnosing performance concerns.

TOYOTA 4

Receive training in Toyota Express Maintenance procedures, including vehicle maintenance service, safety and multipoint inspections. ASE certification preparation and training will be emphasized throughout the course.

THE TOYOTA TPAT ADVANTAGE

TPAT gives you the opportunity to learn from Toyota trained and certified instructors. You'll develop the practical skills training you need as you prepare to pursue a career at a Toyota or Lexus dealership.

In addition, students will be prepared to complete certification testing bythe National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), consideredthe gold standard for independent certification of service technician skillsand knowledge. Toyota requires graduates pass at least two ASE tests and meet a dealership experience requirement to be granted status as a Toyota Certified Technician.

FINANCIAL AID

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. The UTI Financial Aid Department can answer questions and help you apply for grants, student loans, and scholarships.10

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR TOYOTA TPAT

TPAT gives you the manufacturer-specific training that hiring managers look for. To qualify for the program, you need to be a high school graduate or have your GED. You'll also need to complete one of the following:

Technology I
All Automotive courses except ADTA-102, ADTA-103, ADTA-125, ADTA-129, ADTA-135

Technology II
All Automotive courses except AT12-150, AT12-151, AT12-203, AT12-204

NASCAR Tech’s Automotive Technology
All courses except ADTA-135, ADTA-125, ADTN-140 and ADTN-141
