Diagnosing Driveability Concerns

Students are taught how to identify and troubleshoot driveability issues related to engine performance, such as rough idling, stalling or reduced power. This includes using diagnostic tools to pinpoint the root cause of malfunctions.

Understanding Computer-Controlled Systems

Modern vehicles rely heavily on computer controls for efficient operation. Students will explore how these systems work, including their role in managing ignition timing, fuel injection and emissions, and gain skills to resolve related issues.

Engine Mechanical Diagnostics

The diagnose check engine light course emphasizes the importance of understanding engine mechanics. Students will gain the skills to diagnose mechanical problems, such as compression loss or timing chain issues, that can impact vehicle performance.

Fuel Delivery Injection Systems

Students will delve into the operation and repair of fuel delivery systems, including fuel pumps, injectors and pressure regulators. They are taught how to diagnose and resolve issues that affect fuel efficiency and engine performance.

Air Induction System Troubleshooting

Air induction systems are critical for optimal engine operation. Students are taught to identify and repair problems within these systems, such as clogged filters or malfunctioning throttle bodies, that can cause driveability issues.

Using Advanced Diagnostic Tools

Hands-on training includes the use of industry-standard diagnostic equipment to test and troubleshoot vehicle systems.18 Students will be taught how to use equipment like scan tools and fuel pressure gauges in scenarios that mirror the real world.
