ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Automotive Technology program is designed to help prepare students for entry-level roles in the auto industry.1 Students gain a foundation of knowledge and skills they can build on as they advance in their careers.

Throughout the course of 48 weeks, students complete both online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab, which is part of UTI’s blended learning model.18 This can help prepare them for the type of training technicians receive in the field today.

Graduates of the Automotive Technology program at UTI Mooresville earn associate of occupational studies (AOS) degrees as symbols of their training.

AOS degrees are typically focused on vocational training. Upon completion of an AOS degree, students are equipped with the practical skills and industry-specific knowledge needed to pursue a career in their chosen field.

Automotive Certifications Available

Graduates are also prepared to go on to test for ASE certifications, which are highly valued by the industry. ASE certification is recognized and respected by employers in the automotive industry, as it demonstrates that a technician has the knowledge and skills to perform their job effectively.

They can even substitute their training for one of the two years of work experience required to become ASE certified. To earn ASE certification, technicians must pass a series of exams that cover various aspects of automotive repair and maintenance.
