The demand for wind technicians is growing… in fact, it’s one of the fastest-growing jobs in the United States.63 In just seven months, students in the Wind Turbine Technician training program can gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to become wind turbine technicians.1
Select campus locations offer the Electrical & Wind Turbine Technology program, which features courses that are focused on construction/technical trades and electrical knowledge. This includes San Antonio, Rancho Cucamonga, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.

Wind Turbine Courses
The Electrical & Wind Turbine Technology program incorporates courses centered on construction and electrical applications across residential, commercial and industrial settings. Courses also focus on providing students entering the wind industry with the fundamental knowledge for technician tasks. Courses include the following33:

Wind Turbine Technician Training
Wind turbine technicians, also known as wind plant technicians, inspect and service wind turbine towers. This is typically done by climbing a ladder inside the turbine or riding an elevator to the desired working height. In some cases, they’re lifted by helicopter!
Students can choose from two different wind turbine training programs to prepare for careers as wind turbine technicians:
Electrical & Wind Turbine Technology program: Our 8-month program focuses on construction, technical trades and electrical. The program emphasizes applications used in the field, including electrical troubleshooting and wiring. This training prepares students for roles in construction focused wind industries. Offered at San Antonio, Rancho Cucamonga, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston campuses.
Wind Power Technician program: This 7-month program helps equip students with skills employers in the wind industry are looking for, and prepares them for entry-level technician jobs. This is offered at our Canton campus.
Wind Turbine Technician Careers
Students in this program are taught the skills they need to feel confident working in entry-level positions. Most of our grads start out prepared to work as entry-level technicians or in other entry-level roles. As with any industry, over time, they may be able to advance in their career with experience and hard work. Here are some examples of entry-level and advanced roles:
