The Porsche Technology Apprenticeship Program (PTAP) is an advanced training program offered at Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in partnership with Porsche Cars North America. Designed for graduates of UTI’s Automotive Technology program, PTAP provides specialized instruction focused exclusively on Porsche vehicle systems, diagnostics and technologies.15,46
To be eligible for PTAP, students must first complete UTI’s core Automotive Technology program. Additional eligibility criteria may include academic performance, professionalism, and a strong interest in pursuing a career with Porsche. Acceptance into the program is competitive and subject to program availability and selection requirements.15,46
The Porsche PTAP program typically takes 23 weeks to complete.8 During this time, students receive manufacturer-specific training focused on Porsche vehicle systems and service procedures, preparing them for potential opportunities at Porsche dealerships.1
While UTI’s Automotive Technology program provides a broad foundation in general automotive service, PTAP offers brand-specific training exclusively focused on Porsche. Students gain in-depth knowledge of Porsche diagnostics, repair methods and proprietary technology, training that aligns with the standards and expectations of Porsche dealerships.
Graduates of the PTAP program may pursue career opportunities at authorized Porsche dealerships or service centers. While employment is not guaranteed, the program is designed to help students develop the skills and knowledge needed to pursue entry-level roles as Porsche service technicians or other dealership support positions.1
