Graduates of the program are well prepared to complete ASE examinations and can substitute their training for one year of the two years of work experience required to become ASE certified.1

How much can I make as an entry-level auto mechanic?

The median annual salary for automotive service technicians and mechanics in the United States was $49,670 in May 2024,25 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This means half of automotive technicians earned more and half earned less. Keep in mind that salary depends on several factors, including experience, employer, demand and cost of living in the area. The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not publish entry-level salary data. However, the 25th and 10th percentile of hourly earnings in North Carolina are $17.68 and $14.97, respectively.
