AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Learn by doing during your automotive mechanic training as you take on the maintenance and repair of both import and domestic vehicles. You'll train on everything from simple engine systems to power and performance machines. At UTI's mechanic school, you'll earn credit toward professional automotive mechanic certifications, gain industry-related knowledge and prepare yourself for an in-demand career that fits your passion.1

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN TRAINING
In less than a year, you could be a trained automotive technician.7 It all starts with completing a core program at one of our automotive mechanic schools. These foundational courses build your base knowledge from the ground up, teaching you how to diagnose, maintain and repair domestic and foreign vehicles like a true automotive professional. From here, you can move on to Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training courses.
Our car mechanic school features a blended-learning model, which combines instructor-led online training with hands-on application in the lab. This training provides more flexibility for you as a student and also prepares you for the type of training you’ll experience in the field.
While our Automotive Technology program is not an online mechanic school, students typically spend about half their day completing online coursework and about half in the lab.

Once you've completed your core mechanic school program, you can move on to train with the manufacturer of your choice.
ASE CERTIFICATION TRAINING
UTI's Automotive Technician training program is Master Certified by the ASE Education Foundation, a division of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).16
Graduates of the program are well prepared to complete ASE examinations and can substitute their training for one year of the two years of work experience required to become ASE certified.

WHEN DO CLASSES START?
We offer a year-round program. Automotive classes begin at regular intervals so you can start when it's convenient for you. Our Financial Aid Advisors work with you to help apply for financial aid and submit required paperwork. Our Admissions Team can set up campus tours and can even help connect you with CHS (Collegiate Housing Services) and Compass Rose Student Housing Services (CRSH) to find housing.

The median annual salary for automotive service technicians and mechanics in the United States was $47,770 in May 2023,25 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
