DTNA FINISH FIRST OVERVIEW

Build on your Diesel Technology knowledge with the DTNA Finish First program as you gain hands-on training with some of the most respected names in the trucking industry, including Freightliner, Cascadia, and Western Star. As a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) Finish First student, you'll learn how to maintain, diagnose and repair DTNA products. The 12-week Finish First elective can put you on the road to a career as a Daimler Trucks service technician.9

Graduates of the Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) Finish First program earn Expert Level Technician status, Daimler's highest ranking. With seven valuable certifications, a successful graduate of the program will have a competitive advantage over other entry-level technicians.

FREIGHTLINER FINISH FIRST COURSE 1

Learn how to access DTNA service information such as ServicePro, Service Link, Parts Pro and EZ Wiring. In addition, students will perform comprehensive vehicle safety and Pre-Delivery Inspections and follow the DTNA Maintenance Manual to perform recommended periodic inspection/maintenance tasks on live vehicles. Students will also perform entry-level service and repair tasks to various vehicle systems.

FREIGHTLINER FINISH FIRST COURSE 2

Learn to read DTNA wiring diagrams and schematics, trace circuits, locate electrical power distribution, electrical systems and circuit routing.

FREIGHTLINER FINISH FIRST COURSE 3

Identify heating system components and water control valves. Perform vehicle inspections, service, testing and repairs to live M2 vehicles. Students will perform entry-level inspection, service and repair to HVAC systems used on live DTNA vehicles.

FREIGHTLINER FINISH FIRST COURSE 4

Learn to identify the different Cascadia and Western Star truck models and the fundamentals of electronics for each vehicle. Troubleshoot electronic problems and diagnose potential problems on the Cascadia and Western Star live vehicles.

COURSE OBJECTIVES


DTNA HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK SYSTEMS

Learn to find adjustment specifications and prepare vehicle for suspension adjustment, understand the types of clutches used on DTNA vehicles, and learn the importance of correct wheel seal installation.

DTNA ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC TROUBLESHOOTING AND ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS

Learn to read DTNA diagrams and schematics, locate key components, and troubleshoot using DTNA-recommended diagnostic tools and software.

DTNA HVAC DIAGNOSTICS & BUSINESS CLASS M2

Learn to locate and identify heating system components and water control valves. Perform vehicle inspections, service, testing and repairs to live M2 vehicles.

DTNA CASCADIA & WESTERN STAR TRUCK MODELS

Learn to identify the different Cascadia and Western Star models and their electronics specific to the vehicle. Perform vehicle inspections, service, testing, and repairs to Cascadia and Western Star live trucks.

You must complete one of the following Diesel Technology core curriculum programs from UTI, or another NATEF-Certified program:
