CDC Guidelines

Our Hands-On Labs Align with CDC Guidance

Hands-on training is structured to follow CDC, state, and local guidelines. Here's what that looks like:

  • Students will arrive and leave campus through assigned doors at assigned times. They will be provided more information about assigned door prior to their return to campus.
  • Each student will be provided a face covering that must be worn while on campus, both inside and out. They are allowed to wear their own face covering as long as it is safe to be used around our lab environment and meets CDC guidelines.
  • We have reduced class sizes to follow CDC, state and local guidelines.
  • Workstations are set up to maintain social distancing.
  • Students will work on vehicles and training aids at individual workstations, and will not share equipment and tools when possible.
  • Students will be required to practice physical distancing and good hygiene—washing their hands, covering coughs, using hand sanitizer, staying at least six feet away from others, etc.
  • Student breaks will be taken individually throughout the sessions to comply with social distancing requirements.
  • We will thoroughly disinfect each workstation and tools between sessions, and continue to regularly clean and disinfect the campus.
  • Support from our Student Services teams will be done over the phone rather than in person. At this time, in-person appointments/walk-ins are not available. You can reach out to for support.

The Curriculum

Hands-on lab training at the campus will be paired with Blackboard Ultra online instructor-led lectures and demonstrations. Online lectures will continue to be available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Once completed, students can review their online materials and refresh their knowledge as often as they like as they continue through their training program.

Are Students Required to Participate in Hands-On Training?

Going forward we will offer a blended training approach, with online instructor-led lectures and demonstrations coupled with hands-on labs on campus.

While many students have said that they want to get back to training in hands-on labs, we understand that some students may feel uncomfortable returning to campus at this time. We are ready to welcome them back but we want to ensure they are comfortable with the timing of their return.

If students would like to continue taking the instructor-led lectures and demonstrations online but would prefer to return to campus for labs at a later date, they can choose to do so.

Preparing for Careers

Our graduates are needed to fill jobs vital to keeping the country on the road forward.1 The technicians we train support the infrastructure that delivers critical goods and supplies to the public. That includes the transportation, construction, manufacturing, supply, materials, food services, and fabrication sectors.

Many employers need to hire technicians now. That's why we're working to ensure we can offer hands-on training that follows CDC, state, and local health guidance at our campuses as soon as possible.

Have Questions?

Our primary focus is the health and safety of our students and staff while on campus. If you are a current student and you have questions about our hands-on training, please email our Student Services team at
