Automotive Mechanic Training in Houston, TX
In the 12-month Automotive & EV Technology program, you’ll learn the basics of automotive service and repair, brake systems, and so much more.7 As a graduate of UTI Houston, you’ll earn an AOS degree and will be prepared to test for ASE certification to demonstrate your level of training and professionalism. Also included in the auto program is the three-week Battery Electric Vehicle Technology course. With an industry push toward hybrid and electric vehicles, this course focuses on teaching students the unique maintenance and repair standards that go along with these types of cars.
Diesel Mechanic Training in Houston, TX
Do you love working on big engines? In the 11-month Diesel Technology program, your courses will dive into truck brakes and chassis, diesel engines and fuel systems, transport refrigeration and much more.7 Upon completion of the program, you’ll earn a diploma and will be prepared to test for ASE certification.

The Collision Repair & Refinish Technology (CRRT) program is designed to equip you with the skills needed to manipulate and shape metal using specialized custom equipment, weld steel and aluminum, create your own designs with specialized colors in custom paint, and much more. Ford FACT delivers 14 Ford STST classroom course credentials in the Training Center delivery model combined with 100+ required web-based credentials, resulting in completion of 13 Ford specialty certification areas. In our Cummins Engines diesel training lab, you have the opportunity to train on Cummins engines, earning certifications on all Cummins MidRange and heavy-duty engines, as well as all current Cummins systems.46

What sets UTI Houston apart from other vocational schools? Our expansive campus features an electrical and advanced diagnostics lab that houses full-size vehicles and clip car trainers. UTI Houston also boasts three Power & Performance labs, two chassis dynamometers and a separate engine dynamometer, as well as a dedicated diesel engine lab where you’ll have hands-on access to full-size engine platforms from a variety of manufacturers.

UTI follows a blended-learning model, which includes a mix of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in the lab.18 This type of training is modeled after what’s used in the industry today and can provide more flexibility for students.
In addition, UTI offers programs that follow a fully hands-on learning model. They include Airframe & Powerplant; CNC Machining; Collision Repair & Refinish; HVACR; Electrical, Electronics, & Industrial Technology; Electrical Industrial Maintenance; Non-Destructive Testing; Electrical Robotics & Automation; Welding; and Electrical & Wind Turbine.
While not separate classes, math and science aligned with the learning skills are incorporated into the course teachings, along with industry terminology that technicians need to succeed.
No, our curriculum does not require prior experience and is specifically designed to teach the skills necessary to pursue a role as a entry-level technician.1
Graduates earn either a diploma or associate in occupational studies (AOS) degree, depending on the program and campus, with the possibility of additional credentials.
