Our Houston campus has a 42-year history of preparing graduates for careers as technicians in the transportation, skilled trades and energy industries.1 Additionally, qualifying graduates can apply to take advantage of Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training focused on Ford, BMW and Cummins diesel engines46 after completing a core program.

CORE PROGRAMS OFFERED

What are you passionate about? At the UTI Houston campus, we offer core training programs in airframe and powerplant; automotive; diesel; collision repair; welding; electrical robotics & automation; electrical wind turbine; electrical industrial maintenance; electrical, electronics & industrial technology; HVACR; and non-destructive testing technology. Each program can help give you the skills you need to pursue an in-demand career.

Automotive Mechanic Training in Houston, TX

In the 12-month Automotive & EV Technology program, you’ll learn the basics of automotive service and repair, brake systems, and so much more.7 As a graduate of UTI Houston, you’ll earn an AOS degree and will be prepared to test for ASE certification to demonstrate your level of training and professionalism. Also included in the auto program is the three-week Battery Electric Vehicle Technology course. With an industry push toward hybrid and electric vehicles, this course focuses on teaching students the unique maintenance and repair standards that go along with these types of cars.

Diesel Mechanic Training in Houston, TX

Do you love working on big engines? In the 11-month Diesel Technology program, your courses will dive into truck brakes and chassis, diesel engines and fuel systems, transport refrigeration and much more.7 Upon completion of the program, you’ll earn a diploma and will be prepared to test for ASE certification.

Auto Body Repair Training in Houston, TX

The Collision Repair & Refinish Technology (CRRT) program is designed to equip you with the skills needed to manipulate and shape metal using specialized custom equipment, weld steel and aluminum, create your own designs with specialized colors in custom paint, and much more. Graduates earn a diploma in addition to valuable I-CAR progress badges.

Electrical Technician Training in Houston, TX

The 12-month Electrical, Electronics, & Industrial Technology program is designed to help students prepare for careers in the electrical field.131 They learn core skills for the industry that focus on subjects like AC and DC electrical theory, computers and networking, electrical wiring and more! .

Welding Training in Houston, TX

In the nine-month Welding Technology training program, you’ll learn four different welding processes. Developed in conjunction with Lincoln Electric, your courses will cover everything from welding safety guidelines to various types of welding applications. As a graduate, you’ll earn a diploma and be prepared to test for welding certifications.

Electrical, Robotics & Automation Training

Get practical, hands-on training with our 12-month Electrical, Robotics & Automation Technology program. Our expert instructors help students develop highly sought-after automation skills through courses in electrical applications, programmable logic controllers, computers and networking and more.

Electrical & Wind Turbine Technology Training

Our eight-month Electrical & Wind Turbine Technology program provides students with valuable insights from seasoned industry professionals. Our expert instructors lead them through courses covering topics like advanced electrical and controls and wind turbine components, equipping them with the fundamentals needed for the wind power industry.

Electrical Industrial Maintenance Training

Dive into the world of machines. In our 10-month Electrical & Industrial Maintenance Technology program, students learn to maintain and repair machinery that powers the energy industry in sectors like gas, coal, nuclear and more. The curriculum covers subjects like electrical wiring, instrumentation and control, and more.

HVACR Technician Training in Houston, TX

Gain skills in the complex world of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) in as short as nine months. This immersive program guides students through proper maintenance and repair of the HVACR equipment used in homes and workspaces in the U.S.

Non-Destructive Testing Technician Training in Houston, TX

Learn the main types of non-destructive testing methods in just nine months. The Advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician program in Houston teaches students how to test the structural integrity of materials used in various manufacturing industries like machinery, transportation, electronics and more.

Airframe & Powerplant Technician Training in Houston, TX

Learn the skills needed for entry-level roles in the aviation maintenance industry.79 UTI's 18-month Airframe & Powerplant Technician program covers topics like aircraft troubleshooting, hydraulics and turbine engine operation through hands-on and classroom learning. Students and graduates can apply and test for FAA certification, helping open doors toward various career opportunities.128

Ford FACT delivers 14 Ford STST classroom course credentials in the Training Center delivery model combined with 100+ required web-based credentials, resulting in completion of 13 Ford specialty certification areas. In our Cummins Engines diesel training lab, you have the opportunity to train on Cummins engines, earning certifications on all Cummins MidRange and heavy-duty engines, as well as all current Cummins systems.46

EARN YOUR EDUCATION AT UTI HOUSTON

GET YOUR ASSOCIATE DEGREE

UTI Houston awards associate of occupational studies (AOS) degrees to graduates of the Automotive & EV Technology, Automotive/Diesel & EV Technology, and certain combinations of the Diesel Technology program. All other graduates receive diplomas.

PREP FOR ASE CERTIFICATION

A graduate of UTI’s ASE Education Foundation-accredited Automotive, Diesel or Collision Repair programs can substitute his or her training for one year of work experience toward ASE’s two-year work requirement.16

CRRT PROGRAM

As one of only two UTI campuses to offer the Collision Repair training program, graduates can earn I-CAR progress badges.

FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification

Students and graduates of the Airframe & Powerplant Technician program are eligible to apply and test for FAA-issued mechanic certification — a credential often required in the field.128

UTI Houston operates out of two buildings just a quarter mile from each other. Both are within driving distance of downtown Houston, Lake Conroe, the NASA Johnson Space Center and all of greater Houston’s many other attractions. Guided campus tours are available Monday through Friday.

UTI is an educational institution and cannot guarantee employment, salary or FAA certification.128) UTI will pay for certain third-party FAA certification exam fees for qualifying students. UTI’s electrical programs prepare graduates for entry-level careers using the provided training in careers such as electrician’s assistant or security + access control systems technician, but graduates will not be eligible for certification as an electrician without additional training and meeting state licensing requirements.
