There are many paths that can be pursued in the automotive industry. UTI’s automotive school graduates are prepared to pursue entry-level positions as auto technicians, performing general service and repair; as service advisors, creating work orders for technicians and keeping customers updated on the status of repairs; or as parts associates, handling inventory and helping locate correct parts.

While most of our graduates begin their careers in entry-level positions, as with any industry, over time you might be able to advance in your career with hard work. Some experienced technicians could become shop owners, service managers and fleet technicians later in their careers.⁷⁷

Our airframe and powerplant mechanic program (coming to UTI Long Beach pending FAA approval) is an 18-month program that teaches students to maintain different types of aircraft.⁷⁹ No work experience is required to enter the program — instructors start at square one and help students develop a fundamental knowledge.
