The automotive training at UTI Long Beach prepares students to pursue entry-level roles. These roles may be as:

• Automotive technicians typically work at service and repair shops, performing maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work.
• Service writers act as a liaison between clients and techs by creating work orders based on the customer’s request and their professional knowledge.
• Parts Technicians handle inventory, address warranty issues, and assist technicians in locating and pricing parts.

Students of the diesel technician program spend 45 weeks servicing various types of diesel engines^.7 Course topics include Engines Service & Repair, Diesel Truck Brake Systems & Chassis, Vehicle Electronic Systems and Technology and more! Graduates receive a diploma, as well as the knowledge needed to test for ASE certification!

Long Beach collision repair students can choose from two programs, ranging in length from 51 to 54 weeks — Collision Repair and Refinish Technology or Collision Repair and Refinish Technology + Estimating. Both were created with help from industry-leading brands like I-CAR, Axalta, and 3M. Graduates can earn a diploma and I-CAR credentials!

The 36-week hands-on welding training program teaches students four welding processes, safety standards, different welding positions and more! Graduates receive a diploma and can begin pursuing entry-level positions as welders, fabricators and fitters.¹

The airframe and powerplant program teaches students to perform routine maintenance on various aircraft through courses on reciprocating and turbine engines, navigation and communication systems, basic electricity and more!⁷⁹ At the end of 18 months, graduates receive a diploma verifying their training.
