The Marine Technician Specialist program is perfect for those who love the water and want to pursue a career in the marine industry.¹ Our marine mechanic school provides a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training, from inboard gas and diesel to outboard four-stroke and two-stroke motors. Through marine mechanic training, students can gain the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in the industry.

UTI provides comprehensive marine mechanic training, from basic engine theory to the more technical aspects of marine product service, rebuilding, troubleshooting and repair. UTI is dedicated to providing you with the foundation to increase your knowledge and hands-on skills working with marine technology.

EARN YOUR CREDENTIALS AT UNIVERSAL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE

GET YOUR ASSOCIATE DEGREE

UTI awards occupational associate degrees (OAD) to graduates of the Marine Technician Specialist program who add nine weeks (three courses) from the UTI Diesel Technology program curriculum. All other grads receive diplomas.

GAIN FACTORY CREDENTIALS

Marine mechanic students have the opportunity to pursue and achieve provisional certification as factory-certified technicians for Mercury Marine outboard products. Students must complete core Mercury University requirements as an embedded component of the 51-week Marine Technician Specialist program or 60-week Marine & Diesel Technician Training program, as well as additional online distance-learning courses to achieve the certification.

SPECIALIZED MARINE MECHANIC TRAINING

Each three-week course is designed to provide students with technical and hands-on training specific to each brand. Students learn the design and operation unique to each manufacturer.

This technical knowledge and hands-on application prepares our marine mechanic program graduates to begin work in marinas, boatyards, marine dealers or wherever your life on the water may take you.¹
