WHAT YOU'LL BE TAUGHT
This manufacturer-specific training covers essential areas such as engine diagnostics, fuel and electrical systems, propulsion mechanics, and advanced computer-controlled marine technologies.
Students will train directly on Mercury’s industry-leading outboard and sterndrive engines, learning proper repair and maintenance techniques using factory-approved procedures and tools. The program also emphasizes troubleshooting real-world engine issues, ensuring graduates are prepared to meet the demands of today’s marine service industry.

Mercury Marine mechanic training is available through our Marine Technician Specialist and Marine & Diesel Technician Training programs offered at our tech school campus in Orlando, Florida.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
No prior experience is required. The Mercury Marine curriculum is designed for both beginners and those with previous experience. Over the six-week Mercury portion of the Marine Technician Specialist program, you can learn everything from basic service procedures to advanced diagnostics with guidance from experienced instructors.
Training includes hands-on instruction with a wide range of Mercury products, including outboard, sterndrive and inboard propulsion systems.18 You can also learn to service related components, such as fuel, electrical and control systems, using the same diagnostic tools found in professional marine shops.
Students who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to earn credentials that are recognized throughout Mercury’s global dealer network through the Mercury University online training portal at no additional cost. These credentials can help demonstrate their technical skills and readiness to work on Mercury products and at Mercury-authorized dealerships in the field.1
Graduates are prepared to pursue entry-level positions with Mercury-authorized dealerships, marinas and service centers nationwide.1 Our Career Services department can also help connect students with employers seeking Mercury-trained technicians.
The Mercury Marine training is offered as a specialized component within the Marine Technician Specialist program. After completing prerequisite marine training, students advance into manufacturer-specific courses, including this two-course curriculum spanning six weeks to gain brand-specific skills and experience with Mercury technologies and systems.
