Motorcycle Mechanics Institute has been providing Harley-Davidson® dealerships with trained technicians since 1983. MMI is the only technician training school that offers a Harley-Davidson® specific 30-week elective curriculum that is aligned with Harley-Davidson University™.

CREDENTIALS

Graduates are credited with 12 months of work experience toward Harley-Davidson’s field recognition program upon graduation and are qualified for employment in a Harley-Davidson® authorized dealership.

Students have the opportunity to acquire Harley-Davidson

University™ PHD (Professional Harley-Davidson) course credit for vehicle and Chassis Service, and Electrical Diagnostics. The training also includes the opportunity to qualify for advanced placement through the Harley-Davidson® Technician Recognition Program.

30 Weeks

MMI is the only career education school that offers a Harley-Davidson® specific, 30-week curriculum that is aligned with Harley-Davidson University™. The program emphasizes hands-on experience for the service and repair of late model Harley-Davidson® motorcycles and day-to-day dealership operations.*

As you train, you’ll have the opportunity to earn valuable Harley-Davidson® recognized PHD course credits. Each student is credited with 1 year of work experience toward the Technician Recognition program if hired by a Harley-Davidson® authorized dealership after graduation.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON SCREAMIN' EAGLE®

3 Weeks

Students expand their knowledge by completing the Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle® performance training. This three-week course will familiarize students with the Screamin’ Eagle® line of performance options. They learn about the performance applications of components such as cylinder heads, camshafts, ignition systems, and intake and exhaust systems. The emphasis is on learning the correct application and combination of these performance components.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON EARLY MODEL TRAINING

3 weeks

SStudents expand their knowledge to include the design, repair and maintenance of Harley-Davidson® vehicles dating back to 1936. This hands-on experience with classic motorcycles provides students with well-rounded training and the ability to pursue their passion of working with classic Harley-Davidson® bikes..

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

At MMI, the Harley-Davidson PHD program allows students to begin learning the PHD assessment process while performing the lab tasks in the courses. Hands-on PHD assessment is an essential element in the Harley-Davidson Technician Recognition program, which, upon students successful completion, makes it possible for graduates to enter the industry with important dealer training satisfied.

Participating students have the opportunity to acquire the following Harley-Davidson University™ PHD course credits:

  • Vehicle and Chassis Service (VCS)
  • Electrical Diagnostics

Learn the foundational knowledge of Harley-Davidson® mechanics in just 30 weeks after you complete the Motorcycle Technician Prerequisite (MTP) program at MMI.

EARLY MODEL TRAINING

Students expand their knowledge to include Harley-Davidson Early Model motorcycles dating to 1936.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR HARLEY-DAVIDSON SPECIALIZED TRAINING

Students must successfully complete core prerequisite courses, which includes courses designed specifically for students who want to take the Harley-Davidson Late Model training.
