Knight was created by four cousins, Randy, Gary, Keith, and Kevin. All four of them worked for Swift Transportation before starting Knight Transportation in 1990.
They envisioned a better way to do trucking. They wanted to focus primarily on safety with our driving associates and service for our customers, while being the lowest cost carrier, with first-in-class equipment.
With one service center in Phoenix, AZ, a handful of trucks and a desire to grow, the four cousins went to work.
Today, Knight is led by Dave Jackson (CEO) and Adam Miller (CFO) along with the founders Kevin, Keith, and Gary, who continue to play intricate roles in guiding the continual growth of the business. Knight operates more than 4,600 trucks, 30 plus services
centers, with revenues generating over $1B annually.
Knight operates 21 shops throughout the nation, offering career focused training and development, bonuses and growth opportunities.
Who we are, is the vital part to the success of Knight Transportation. We believe in
This is what makes the difference in our company. It incorporates our willingness to take personal accountability and our willingness to accept the rules of engagement in how we work together.
The attribute of a strong work ethic has been passed down from the founders since the beginning. We do not tolerate mediocre performance and under-performance requires prompt change.
Looking good is nothing, but being good is everything. We are thrilled and invigorated when focus, attention, and even spotlights are shined on where we can improve. This requires a special blend of humility, courage, and a genuine desire to be good,
which results in extraordinary outcomes and greatness.
Our experience has shown that hard working, smart people focus on solving problems and improving efficiencies, which is our greatest differentiation. Our goal as an organization is to be the very best in our industry. The best in profitability, returns,
culture, growth, innovation, and ideas.
We have a saying here at Knight, “Culture is not the most important thing – it is the only thing.” This is what makes us who we are.
