The BMW Chassis Technology course is part of UTI’s BMW FastTrack Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training (MSAT) program, offering students the opportunity to specialize in the advanced systems of BMW vehicles.11

What You'll Learn in the BMW Chassis Technology Course

The BMW chassis course is designed to supplement UTI’s core Automotive Technology program with specific skills and knowledge related to BMW chassis systems and electronic components, helping prepare students for roles within BMW service departments.1

Students are taught key principles, including:

Understanding BMW Dynamic Stability Control Systems

Students will dive into the intricacies of BMW’s Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system. This includes seeing how this system maintains vehicle stability by managing traction and braking forces in various driving conditions.

Diagnosing Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS)

The BMW Chassis Technology course covers the operation and troubleshooting of BMW’s Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. Students will learn to test, diagnose and resolve TPMS issues, ensuring safe and efficient tire performance.

Electronic Systems Troubleshooting for Chassis Control

Students will gain proficiency in troubleshooting electronic systems related to BMW’s chassis control systems. This includes diagnosing faults, interpreting system data and using specialized diagnostic equipment to pinpoint issues accurately.

Chassis Service Procedures

Hands-on training includes performing chassis service procedures such as strut removal, phasing and installation. These skills are essential for maintaining the performance and safety of BMW vehicles.

Advanced Wheel Balancing Techniques

Students will work with advanced wheel balancing equipment to ensure precision in wheel alignment and balancing, which is crucial for optimal vehicle handling and comfort.

Brake System Service and Repair

Another thing that the BMW chassis class emphasizes is brake inspections, servicing and repairs. Students are taught to diagnose and resolve issues in ABS and traction control systems, ensuring reliable braking performance.
