As diesel technicians gain more experience, they may be able to advance into one of the below roles:

  • Fleet managers oversee the maintenance, repair and usage of diesel-powered vehicles that are owned by a businesses or government-ran agencies.
  • Shop foremen lead teams of diesel technicians to ensure efficient maintenance and repair. They train new techs, implement and enforce safety standards, and maintain customer and vendor relationships.

Automotive Mechanic School

At UTI’s automotive mechanic school, students can gain industry-specific knowledge and build a foundational skill set. Our 51-week program7 covers engine service and repair, emissions performance, vehicle steering and suspension service, electronic systems, and more.
