Located in Miramar, UTI’s diesel training program is roughly 12 miles southwest of Davie. The 45-week program7 consists of hands-on training in labs equipped with current technology, including several diesel engines and equipment.
Students learn the ins and outs of these engines, and by the end of the program they’ll be able to inspect, repair and maintain them.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES NEAR DAVIE, FL
A diesel technician career can be exciting for analytical thinkers who enjoy learning while working with their hands. Diesel technician skills are in-demand across industries, including trucking and transportation, power generation, and local governments.
When it comes to salary, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the median annual salary for bus and truck mechanics and diesel engine specialists in the South Florida area was $56,190 in May 2022.29 This means half earned more and half earned less. Keep in mind that salary depends on several factors, including experience, employer, demand and cost of living in the area.
DIESEL MECHANIC JOBS IN DAVIE, FL
Most graduates of our diesel mechanic training program start as entry-level technicians or in other entry-level roles. As with any industry, over time, you may be able to advance in your career with hard work.77 Some entry-level positions include:
- Diesel technicians inspect, repair and maintain diesel-powered vehicles like buses and trucks.
- Heavy equipment repair technicians repair, overhaul and maintain heavy equipment with a diesel engine, including semi-trailers, bulldozers and cranes.
- Power generation technicians inspect, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot diesel engines and their related electrical components to ensure they’re providing power. They often work on internal combustion engines, generators and other engines.

- Head southwest on South University Drive toward South University Drive (1.6 miles)
- Keep right to continue on FL-817 South/South University Drive (1.5 miles)
- Turn right onto FL-822/Sheridan Street (3.9 miles)
- Use the left two lanes to turn left onto FL-823 South/North Flamingo Road (2.5 miles)
- Turn right onto Pembroke Road (1.5 miles)
- Continue on SW 145th Avenue to your destination (0.7 miles)

Auto Mechanic School
UTI’s 51-week7 auto mechanic school helps students build industry-relevant knowledge to help them prepare them to pursue careers in the industry. Like the Diesel program, students train with the tools, technology and equipment seen in in the field.
From service and repair to electronic systems and technology courses, students come away with the skills employers often seek in entry-level candidates.1 Graduates receive an occupational associate degree (OAD).
Welding School
Welding industry leader Lincoln Electric helped UTI develop its welding school curriculum. The program offers hands-on training state-of-the-industry technology and equipment.
Students also learn four main arc welding processes, proper tool usage, blueprint reading, project planning and more. At the end of the program, grads are awarded diplomas.
Airframe and Powerplant School
UTI Miramar’s 18-month airframe and powerplant school79 doesn’t require any previous experience to attend. Industry professionals lead the program, which is designed to build students’ knowledge from the ground up.
At the conclusion of their training, graduates earn diplomas and can begin pursuing entry-level roles like aviation
mechanic, turbine technician or field technician.77
