There are already 2 million electric vehicles on the road, as more people choose electric each year. Even California has committed to allowing sales of only zero-emissions new vehicles by 2035. Whether you’re in with the new or still prefer a fueled-engine vehicle, being a technician trained for the future means knowing how to safely maintain and repair electric vehicles (EV).

That’s why UTI Sacramento is going electric! For all Automotive Technology and Automotive & Diesel Technology students at UTI Sacramento, the Battery Electric Vehicle Technology course is now included in their training.1 Here’s a glimpse into this exciting new course and what to expect if you decide to train at UTI Sacramento.

What UTI Sacramento’s Electric Course Looks Like

The Battery Electric Vehicle Technology course utilizes hands-on training for students to learn about electric vehicles and electric drive assemblies. Lasting three weeks, it builds on the hybrid and electric training enhancements already found at UTI’s campuses while introducing subjects like:

  • High-voltage vehicle operation
  • Electric vehicle components
  • Diagnosis and services
  • Electronic principles & safety
  • Unique training in BEV operation

Creating a Curriculum That Provides Industry-Mirrored Training

Unlike traditional cars, electric vehicles have different maintenance needs, such as battery checks, charging, and power usage. Knowing how to repair and maintain electric vehicles requires formal training in high-voltage electrical systems, battery storage systems and electric powertrain systems, as well as knowing how to use specialized tools and equipment to diagnose and make repairs.

Through a curriculum built hand in hand with Bosch, UTI Sacramento’s EV course equips Automotive Technology and Automotive & Diesel Technology students with knowledge about current technology in the automotive industry. The program’s advanced, industry-specific education provides students with the right skill sets to pursue a career as a technician in today’s job market.

The EV course is a substantial step forward for UTI Sacramento, as it provides students with the latest knowledge and advanced training needed to succeed in the automotive industry. Get started on your career path at UTI Sacramento today and train on the industry’s modern technology!
