What You'll Learn in the BMW Electrical Technology Course
Designed to build on the foundational skills acquired in UTI’s core Automotive Technology program, this course equips students with the specific skills needed to diagnose, service and repair BMW electrical and electronic systems.

Topics covered include:
Review of Basic Electricity
The BMW Electrical Technology course begins with a comprehensive review of basic electrical principles, ensuring students have a solid foundation in the science of electricity, essential for diagnosing and repairing BMW’s intricate systems.
Using Digital Volt-Ohm Meters (DVOM)
Students will gain hands-on training experience using DVOMs and will be taught how to accurately measure voltage, current and resistance. This skill is critical for troubleshooting electrical circuits in BMW vehicles.
Utilizing BMW-Specific Diagnostic Tools
BMW-specific tools such as ”V” cables and breakout boxes are introduced. Students are taught how to effectively use these tools in conjunction with BMW diagnostic procedures to identify and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
Servicing Charging and Starting Systems
Students will gain proficiency in diagnosing and repairing BMW charging and starting systems, including alternators, starters and related components. They’ll follow BMW-approved methods to ensure precision and reliability.
Battery and Electronic Systems Maintenance
The BMW electrical course teaches students how to service BMW vehicle batteries and electronic systems, focusing on best practices for maintaining performance and extending component lifespan.
BMW Web-Based and ASE Preparatory Training
Also featured is additional training through BMW’s web-based platforms and preparation for ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification, giving students an edge in technical knowledge and industry qualifications.
