If you’re mechanically minded and are looking to prepare for an industry with multiple career avenues, consider energy technology. Those who are skilled in the trade can be found in areas like wind, goal, gas, nuclear, hydroelectric and power distribution, just to name a few. MIAT’s Energy programs are designed to get you ready to pursue entry-level work in as few as 7 months!1

MIAT offers three different energy training programs. Students learn core concepts in the classroom and put their knowledge into action in hands-on labs.2 Along the way, they have the support of passionate instructors with real-world experience.
Students in this 7-month program learn the skills needed to pursue opportunities as wind turbine technicians.1 They learn about renewable energy sources, wind technology, wind turbine operation, advanced electrical theory and more.
The 16-month Energy Technology program covers a variety of topics to give students a strong foundation they can build on. Upon graduation, they earn an Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS), which may help them stand out when applying for positions.1
The Industrial Maintenance Technician program teaches students about power generation, powerplant operations, compression technology, process systems, and more. Graduates of the 7- to 9-month program (length depends on campus) can pursue careers as a machine technician, service technician, maintenance mechanic, mechanical technician, and plant operator, just to name a few.
