According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median annual salary for welders, cutters, solderers and brazers in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach region was $46,930 in May 2022.26 This means half earned more and half earned less. Keep in mind that salary depends on several factors, including experience, employer, demand and cost of living in the area.

Welding can be an exciting field to pursue for the right person. Many welders work within various industries throughout their careers, and there’s a demand for their skills. In fact, total welder employment in the United States is expected to exceed 434,000 by 2031.50

Next, let’s discuss some entry-level and advanced welding roles.

Common entry-level positions for our graduates to pursue after welding training include:

  • Welders use various welding processes and equipment to create, repair, and maintain welds.
  • Welder fitters use blueprints and diagrams to install and fabricate metal products according to specifications.
  • Welding fabricators assemble components with welding and cutting tools to create finished structures or products.

While most of our graduates start out working in entry-level welding roles, as with any industry, over time, they may be able to advance in their careers with hard work.77 Welding roles for those who have advanced training and experience could include shipyard welders, manufacturing welders and rig welders. Learn more about these advanced roles on our welding careers page.
