WELDING TRAINING NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE, FL

Located about 29 miles from Fort Lauderdale, UTI Miramar’s welding school takes just 36 weeks to complete.

The program provides students with hands-on training that covers four main arc welding processes: gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).

Knowledge of these processes helps prepare graduates to pursue entry-level welder positions in several industries. Graduates can also take advantage of UTI’s Career Services department to assist them in their career searches.

While most of our grads start out prepared to work in entry-level roles, as with any industry, over time, they may be able to advance in their careers with experience and hard work.

Some welding career paths that those who have gained advanced skills could consider pursuing include:77

  • Aerospace welders create clean and precise welds to help construct and repair aircraft bodies, engines and their related components.
  • Underwater welders dive into rivers, dams and the ocean to perform underwater fitting, rigging, cutting and welding with heavy equipment. They often work for the oil industry or naval and shipyards.
  • Motorsports welders commonly work for pit crews and racing teams, servicing and repairing vehicles to ensure they operate at peak performance.

It’s worth noting that the availability of specific roles is connected to the demand where you live. However, UTI’s Career Services department has a team of experienced specialists who work with employers across the nation to help students search for potential career opportunities that interest them.1

  1. Get on I-595 West. (3.1 miles)
    1. a. Head south on US-1 South toward East Broward Boulevard. (2.6 miles)
      b. Use the right lane to merge onto I-595 West via the ramp to I-95/Florida’s Turnpike. (0.5 miles)

  2. Continue on I-595 West. Take I-75 South to South 33rd Street/Miramar Parkway in Miramar. Take Exit 7 from I-75 South. (24.1 miles)
    1. a. Merge onto I-595 West. (12.3 miles)
      b. Use the left two lanes to take the exit toward I-75 South/Miami. (1.7 miles)
      c. Merge onto I-75 South. (6.1 miles)
      d. Keep right at the fork to stay on I-75 South. (3 miles)
      e. Use the right two lanes to take Exit 7 toward South 33rd Street/Miramar Parkway. (0.3 miles)
      f. Keep left at the fork to continue on Exit 7A, follow signs for East Miramar Parkway. (0.7 miles)

PROGRAMS OFFERED AT UTI MIRAMAR

In addition to welding school, UTI Miramar also offers Diesel, Automotive, and Airframe & Powerplant technician training programs.

Auto Tech School

UTI Miramar’s automotive technician school students receive hands-on training in the labs using industry-standard technologies and tools.18 After 51 weeks,7 graduates are awarded an occupational associate degree (OAD) and can begin seeking entry-level automotive technician roles.

Diesel Tech School

The diesel technician school at UTI Miramar provides students with hands-on training servicing various diesel engines in an environment that reflects the professional world.18 In just 45 weeks,7 graduates of the Diesel Technology program are presented with diplomas and can begin pursuing entry-level diesel technician roles in various industries.

Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic School

Our airframe and powerplant mechanic school is designed to offer practical hands-on training in aircraft maintenance and repair. Upon graduation, students can begin pursuing entry-level roles in the aviation industry.79
