GRADUATE TESTIMONIALS

Aaron Hernandez: From Childhood Curiosity to Career Confidence

For Aaron Hernandez, graduating from Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is a milestone that still feels surreal. "Just being in graduation, it feels like just yesterday that I started," he reflects. From engine tear-downs to drivability classes, Aaron’s journey through UTI was hands-on, fast-paced and rewarding.1,18

A Passion for Hands-On Work

Aaron has always been someone who enjoys working with his hands. "Ever since I was a little kid, I've always enjoyed working with my hands," he shares. "I was one of those kids that was taking things apart, putting them together." That early passion for mechanics eventually led him to UTI, where he found an education that fueled his interests and prepared him for a career.

Instructors Who Set Students Up for Success

Choosing UTI proved to be the right decision for Aaron. "I definitely think it was the right choice ending up here because I know that they've set me up as best as they could for success in my career."

A big part of that success, he says, comes from the dedicated instructors who go the extra mile to ensure students understand the material. "I don't think I left a single class with a question that went unanswered," he explains. Instructors at UTI not only provided knowledge but also encouraged students to think critically and ask questions—helping them develop the problem-solving skills essential for careers in the automotive industry.

Overcoming Challenges With Support

Aaron’s path through UTI wasn’t always straightforward. He faced personal challenges that required him to take a few leaves of absence, but thanks to the supportive staff and Career Services team, he was never left wondering if he could continue—only how UTI could help make it work.

"Every time that I went in, it was never a question of knowing whether or not I would be able to," he says. "They definitely reassured me, and it was more a question of how we can make this work for you."

That level of support gave Aaron the confidence to keep pushing forward and finish his training, knowing he had people at UTI committed to his success.

A New Sense of Confidence

Beyond technical skills, Aaron credits UTI with helping him grow personally and professionally. "My education here at Universal Technical Institute has just given me a new sense of confidence, not just in my area of work, but I feel like in all of my life."

With graduation behind him, Aaron is stepping into the workforce with the skills, experience, and self-assurance he gained at UTI. His advice to those considering a similar path? "If you're thinking of coming to a trade school like this, give it a shot."

Aaron’s journey is proof that with the right training, guidance, and determination, an exciting career in the skilled trades is within reach.1 Are you ready to take the first step?
