UTI San Antonio’s Robotics & Automation programs share a strong technical foundation but differ in duration and credentials. Students can begin either program directly based on their educational goals.
12-month diploma program: Electrical, Robotics & Automation Technology
This training path emphasizes core technical skills in electrical theory, wiring, industrial robots and automated systems to help prepare students for entry-level opportunities in the field.- NCCER credentials + diploma

19-month associate degree program: Electrical, Robotics & Automation Management Technology
Students receive the same core training as the diploma program while completing courses that teach them additional skills.- NCCER credentials + associate of occupational studies (AOS) degree

UTI's program can be completed in just 12-19 months, so you can pursue a rewarding career faster than the traditional route allows!
No prior experience is required to attend UTI’s electrical, robotics and automation programs. They are designed to teach you what you need to know from the ground up.
Any industry that uses automation to streamline their processes may hire electrical robotics and automation technicians. This can include manufacturing, consumer goods, aerospace and automotive!
A degree is not required to start a career in this field. Many break into the field by attending a trade school where they can learn technical skills. While no degree is required, some employers prefer technicians with industry-standard credentials like those offered by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER). UTI students get the chance to test for three NCCER certifications during their training! Students who are interested in pursuing a degree do have the option to enroll in the 19-month Electrical, Robotics & Automation Management Technology path which results in an associate degree.
