Manufacturing Systems and Technology

Students gain knowledge of technology used in the field of manufacturing. Students acquire an understanding of safety, automation processes, types and uses of industrial robots, machine tools, and various other equipment used within the field of automation. Students are evaluated based on their knowledge through testing and lab projects.

Programmable Logic Controllers

Students use obtained knowledge from prior course content to build their programming foundations to an industrial control level. Programming is explored in reference to industry-specific control applications like manufacturing and process control, along with additional practical applications. Students are required to demonstrate their knowledge and skills by completing lab projects that are further developed for future applications in this program.

Industrial Robotics

Students gain knowledge of industrial robotic systems, programming methods, safety and maintenance. Students explore robot operations, frame setup, program writing/execution/modification, robot integration and system troubleshooting. The programming of these robots is done hands-on with equipment that mirrors the industry, as well as with simulation software just like the kind used in the field.18 Students demonstrate operation, programming and troubleshooting of industrial robots and are evaluated based on their knowledge through testing and lab projects.

Computer-Aided Design

Students gain basic knowledge of computer-aided design software and mechanical drawings. This course covers 2D and 3D designs, symbols, lines, types of views, title block information, dimensioning, and tolerances. Students work with a variety of technical tooling practices to replicate components, create models for application and design drawing layouts based on drawing standards. Students bring these designs to life using additive manufacturing equipment, which they will work hands-on with to prepare both the file and equipment for printing. Software parameters and equipment settings are discussed and practiced as students test their abilities to meet specified criteria for design and editing.
