Houston is home to a variety of venues that provide opportunities for viewing and participating in racing. As one of the most-populated cities in America and the most-populated city in Texas, it’s no wonder fans of drag racing, oval track racing,

Let’s get started!
Interested in getting involved with racing, but don’t want to make the significant investment required to build a race car? Indoor electric go-kart racing might be right up your alley. K1 Speed hosts daily go-kart racing — and things can get competitive. Located only 17 miles southwest of the UTI Houston campus, it’s a great pastime when school isn’t in session.
Another go-kart option is Go-Kart Raceway, located only 10 miles from campus. Not only does this venue offer three types of go-karts, but you can also play video games and challenge
your friends to a game of laser tag.
About 12 miles southeast of UTI Houston, you’ll find Houston Grand Prix, a favorite among go-kart enthusiasts. Open 364 days a year and offering four different types of go-karts,
Houston Grand Prix is a great place to spend an afternoon when class isn’t in session.
If you’re into off-roading and motocross racing, Skeeter Motocross Park is the place to visit. Skeeter can be classified as a hidden gem,
as it’s a small operation. While they don’t maintain a website, you can get more information on their Facebook page. From campus, you can be at the
track ready to race in about an hour.
About 47 miles east of campus is the legendary Houston Raceway Park, formerly known as Royal Purple Raceway. This classic quarter-mile drag strip features street-legal drag racing,
car shows and more. If you love drag racing, this is a track you won’t want to miss.
Travel about 21 miles southeast of UTI Houston and you will find Houston Motorsports Park. Nicknamed the “Palace of Power,” you will find a one-eighth-mile
drag strip and a three-eighths-mile, high-banked oval track. If you’re curious about who has the fastest car in your circle of friends, this is the perfect place to find out.
