Racetracks and Racing Opportunities Near Sacramento, CA

Sacramento is the sixth largest city in California, and with a population over 500,000 and growing, it’s no wonder there are quite a few racetracks and racing opportunities in the area. From drag racing to dirt tracks, asphalt ovals or even go-karting, Sacramento has it all.

Whether you’re a current UTI Sacramento student or are thinking about traveling to campus to take the Automotive or Diesel programs — or the Welding program that’s coming to UTI Sacramento — this list is for you! At UTI, we believe that student life shouldn’t be all work and no play — so follow along as we share some of the top racetracks in the Sacramento area to enjoy when you’re not in class:

Thunderhill Raceway Park

Thunderhill Raceway Park is about 88 miles north of the UTI Sacramento campus. Here, you’ll find the country’s longest road course, as well as a dirt track and multiple other track configurations to get you and your vehicle out racing.

Calistoga Speedway

About 90 miles west of the UTI Sacramento campus is Calistoga Speedway. This dirt track hosts sprint cars, midget cars and outlaws. Calistoga’s history dates to the 1930s.

K1 Speed

Interested in getting involved with racing but don’t want to make the significant investment required to build a race car? Indoor electric go-kart racing might be right up your alley. K1 Speed hosts daily go-kart racing — and things can get competitive. Located about 17 miles from the UTI Sacramento campus, it’s a great place to go when school isn’t in session.

Placerville Speedway

About 48 miles east of UTI Sacramento, dirt track fans will find Placerville Speedway. Known for its high-banked turns, this quarter-mile track hosts a variety of racing events, from World of Outlaws to midget cars and more.

Sacramento Raceway Park

Sacramento Raceway Park is located on the southeast side of the city, about 20 miles from campus. The track hosts street legal drag races and motocross events.

Sonoma Raceway

Historic Sonoma Raceway is about 70 miles southwest of UTI Sacramento. NHRA drag racing, drift events, motorcycle racing and more can all be found here at Sonoma. The 2.5-mile road course is famous in the Northern California region and beyond.

All American Speedway

One of the closest tracks to the UTI Sacramento campus is All American Speedway, only about 20 miles to the northeast. The one-third-mile track hosts various types of racing classes, including modified, super stocks, late models and more.

Marysville Raceway

Marysville Raceway is located about 37 miles north of the UTI Sacramento campus. This dirt track hosts sprint cars, modified, midget cars and more. You may even see kids on the track racing their bicycles, or the occasional Monster Truck show!
