Racetracks and Racing Opportunities Near Orlando, Florida
The greater Orlando, Florida, area is home to about 2.6 million people and a dozen theme parks. Orlando is the third largest city in Florida and is nicknamed the “Theme Park Capital of the World.” With its population size and with so many tourists in town throughout the year, it’s no surprise the Orlando area offers a wide variety of racing attractions.
Orlando is also home to Universal Technical Institute, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and Marine Mechanics Institute. If you’re traveling to the city to complete your training, you have several options to watch or participate in the racing action.

Drag Racing
About 31 miles from campus, you’ll find Orlando Speed World Dragway. Whether you participate in the action or watch from the bleachers, this classic drag strip is sure to satisfy your need for speed! This track hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from test-n-tunes to NHRA professional bracket racing. Upcoming events and scheduling information can be found on the track’s website.
Go-Kart Racing
If you love go-karting, you’re in luck! The greater Orlando area is home to several popular go-karting tracks. Indoor or outdoor, gas or electric — whatever your karting preference, you can take your pick from the following:
Circle Tracks and Multi-Venue Tracks
Daytona International Speedway is about 64 miles northeast of UTI Orlando. This classic Florida track hosts the annual Daytona 500, motorcycle racing and more. This venue is on the top of many racing enthusiasts’ lists when visiting the area.
About 86 miles northwest of campus, race fans will find Bubba Raceway Park. This three-eighths-mile, D-shaped clay track hosts a variety of racing classes and even the occasional demolition derby and trailer race.
Auburndale Speedway is about 50 miles southwest of UTI Orlando. On most weekends, you can find stock car racing, modified cars, mini-stocks, scramblers and more. Be sure to keep an eye on their schedule for demolition derby events, including their famous “Night of Destruction.”
Head south from UTI Orlando for 126 miles, and in the town of Sebring you’ll find Sebring International Raceway. Known for being one of the oldest continually operating racetracks in the United States, Sebring has three track configurations, including a 3.5-mile road course.
Bushnell Motorsports Park hosts go-kart racing and supermoto races on their two-thirds-mile asphalt road course. Located about 60 miles northwest of UTI Orlando, this relatively new racing venue has been well received by local racing enthusiasts.
