There's a demand for welders and techs here in Houston

WELDER AND TECHNICIAN TRAINING AT UTI'S HOUSTON CAMPUS

Employers in the welding, diesel and auto industries are looking for techs with the right training.

UTI Houston is equipped to prepare students for careers in our programs, including the 36-week Welding Technology program.1 The program was developed with industry leader Lincoln Electric and teaches skills valued in the field. Knowledge is taught from the ground up, so no prior experience is needed.

Students in the Welding Technology program learn the four main types of arc welds:

  • Gas metal arc welding (GMAW)

  • Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW)

  • Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)

  • Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW)

Understanding these basic methods is necessary for entry-level welding roles and can be built upon as graduates advance in their careers.

“My favorite thing about teaching is the reward in seeing people get employed, that’s a really big thing for me.”
