Knowing the four main arc welding processes that welders in the industry use today is key! Doing so can help ensure you’re ready to hit the ground running when it’s time to pursue a welding career.
- Gas Metal Arc WeldingAlso known as metal inert gas (MIG) welding, GMAW is one of the most common welding processes that’s crucial to know for those interested in the construction, manufacturing or aerospace industries.
- Shielded Metal Arc WeldingCommonly known as stick welding, this process is one of the oldest types of welding and can be used in all welding positions. It’s used by welders for maintenance and repair, fabrication and more.
- Gas Tungsten Arc WeldingSome of the world’s most important equipment relies on the GTAW welding process – also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. From ship fitting to piping, aerospace, motorsports and construction, it’s important for welders to know this process.
- Flux-Cored Arc WeldingFlux-cored arc welding, or FCAW, is a versatile process that welders should know, as it can be used both indoors and outdoors. This method is often used in the construction industry and in projects like ship building.
