AFFINIA UTI NTI Scholarship 2008
Objective:
Affinia, a company representing a premier collection of superior brands in the automotive aftermarket, seeks to provide financial assistance to students enrolling in automotive technician training at a Universal Technical Institute campus and who can demonstrate a high likelihood of success in their chosen field. There will be two (2) $2000 tuition scholarships available per automotive campus*, awarded to students who begin their program between August 1, 2008 and October 31, 2008.
Criteria for awarding the scholarship:
Enrolled students who meet all other admissions requirements for the NASCAR Technical Institute or Universal Technical Institute* and ALL the criteria below may apply for a $2000 tuition scholarship, prorated over the entire term of the student’s program:
1. Has completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
2. Has received a Student Aid Report (SAR) back from the Department of Education after completing the FAFSA.
3. Has an expected family contribution (EFC) as shown on your Student Aid Report, of $12,000 or less.
4. Has a reference letter from an employer, guidance counselor or instructor.
5. Enrolls to begin courses during the time frame outlined above.
6. Clearly expresses a commitment and desire to succeed through the application essay.
7. Submits the application by October 31, 2008.
Process and Rules:
The Affinia Scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled to begin classes between August 1 and October 31, 2008. The process for applying for this scholarship will be published on the UTI website and distributed to all enrolled students. Students who have not yet enrolled for these start dates will be notified after enrollment.
Any student meeting the criteria may apply. Students will complete an application and submit it to the Scholarship Office. Students who apply and meet all requirements will be considered for this scholarship. Determinations of who will receive the award will be based on a review of all applications received prior to the deadline. All viable applications will be reviewed by the UTI Scholarship Committee, and awards will be presented. All applicants will be notified by mail.
If a student cannot start classes within the time frame listed above the scholarship will go to the first alternate. In the event neither winner at a campus can start classes within the time frame, or if, after starting classes, cannot complete the program for any reason, the unused scholarship money will be used to create another scholarship later in the year for students already in class. It is not transferable to any other person. This is a cash award paid by Affinia to UTI on behalf of the winning students that will be applied to the student’s tuition. The total scholarship award will be spread out over the term of the program and “earned” by successfully completing each class.
UTI and NTI comply with all state, federal and accreditation requirements in awarding scholarships. Neither UTI nor NTI discriminates against or tolerates the harassment of any potential applicant, applicant or student on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, disability, age, or any other legally protected status in the provision of its courses, programs, services or activities.
Admissions representatives may not provide anything more than general information about scholarships, but must refer them to the Scholarship Office or the UTI website for application and verification. Scholarships shall not be used as a recruiting device.
